And turn
them in!
.
All library
books are due
by June 7.

Something Missing
I remember I put on my socks,
I remember I put on my shoes.
I remember I put on my tie
That was painted
In beautiful purples and blues.
I remember I put on my coat,
To look perfectly grand at the dance,
Yet I feel there is something
I may have forgot----
What is it? What is it?. . .

Vote for your favorite BLOOK

In the 1990s, librarian Mindell Dubansky is said to have coined the term, "blook", for those things that appear to be books but aren’t. This could include fake books used on bookshelves or even other objects that are made in the shape of books.

The survey results of your favorite blook: The folding light was first followed by the bed and the hiding spot.

Coming to Seattle in the spring of 2014: The Sketchbook Project Mobile Library

The Sketchbook Project is an interactive, mobile library of artist’s sketchbooks. Participants sign up to receive a blank sketchbook, fill it with original art, and mail it back. All books are cataloged in the Brooklyn Art Library’s permanent collection and exhibited around North America in our Mobile Library, a custom fitted art exhibition on wheels.
If you can't wait for the mobile library there is a digital library too.

Happy Birthday! The World Wide Web is 20 years old.

Click to see a restoration of the VERY FIRST WEBSITE. Then imagine how websites will look 20 years from now.
It was 20 years ago on April 30, 1993 that the World Wide Web was opened to all, setting off one of the biggest transformations in technology and altering the way we communicate. To celebrate the occasion, the creator has brought the world's first website back to life.
By the end of 1993, there were more than 500 websites. By 2013, an estimated 630 million websites exist on the World Wide Web, according to CERN.
"The fact that they called their technology the World Wide Web hints at the fact that they knew they had something special, something big," CERN said in a blog post.  From the LA Times
